How we price work
We used to publish a price list. We stopped, because every project worth doing was scoped from a conversation and the list only ever did one of two things: put off someone whose project was bigger than the number, or set an expectation we then had to walk back.
So the number comes after we understand the work. Here is exactly how you get to it.
Getting to a number
01 - You tell us what it has to do
Not a spec. What the thing is for, who uses it, what breaks today. Fifteen minutes on a call or a long message, either works.
02 - We come back with scope and a number
What we would build, in what order, how long it runs and what it costs. Written down, itemised, and yours to take elsewhere if you want a second opinion.
03 - Nothing moves until you agree the number
There is no discovery fee and no charge for the quote. If the scope changes mid-project we re-quote the change before doing it, rather than after.
04 - We stay on, or we hand over cleanly
Most clients keep us for maintenance and new features. The ones who take it in-house get documentation and a walkthrough for their own developers.
How engagements are shaped
Three arrangements cover almost everything we do. Which one fits is usually obvious within the first conversation.
Fixed scope, fixed price
Best when the thing is well understood - a marketing site, a redesign, a defined integration. You know the total before we start and it does not move unless you move the scope.
Monthly retainer
Best for a product that is going to keep changing. A set amount of our time each month, spent on whatever matters most that month.
Build then maintain
The common one. A fixed-price build, then a smaller monthly amount to keep it running, monitored and improving.
Ask us for a quote
Send what you are building and any deadline you are working to. We come back with scope, timeline and cost, and case studies from similar work if you want to see them first. Quotes are free and there is nothing to sign to get one.
